       Born with an aura that hurts anyone who comes near her, Lucia Sanctum longs to feel the touch of another. She prays to the holy stars for a cure, but they do not often answer. In a moment of darkness, Lucia's skin ignites with divine light. Witnessing her new power, a handsome cult leader claiming to be the Creator of the universe tempts her with the cure she craves—but only if she joins his cult and poses as the co-Creator of the universe. If she bends her light to his will, he claims, the two of them will reform the Void and recreate the world.

       Though this man is warm and loving on the surface, Lucia finds the idea of lying to the entire city not only sickening but dangerous. The ruling cult of the Voidmaster threatens divine war over her blasphemy. While she wrestles with the supposed con-artist's offer, an alluring man shows up at her new palace unannounced, an unnamed figure who has come out of the ancient Void alive. But more shockingly to Lucia, he is immune to her painful aura. He can come close enough to touch her, if he desires...

       Now Lucia is torn—not only between two men but between her old faith and a new destiny. Is she really the co-Creator of the universe? Should she embrace her divinity, or will this anger the almighty Voidmaster? She must choose her path carefully...because the Void seems very, very hungry for the last city on Earth. And very, very eager to put out Lucia's light.
